One of the wonderful things about using digital devices is that they allow you to create something to show what you have learned and then to share that learning with the world.
Check the students’ blogs to see what their latest learning is!
This week, as part of the Global Read Aloud, we read Exclamation Mark. We talked about when we use exclamation marks and then the students all used an app called Book Creator to make a very short comic. All of the comics have exclamation marks! You can see each student’s creation on their blog. Here are a couple to tantalize you.
Having iPads to share our learning means that we can create wonderful screencasts like this. Check the student blogs on the right.
Wow! Where did that first week of school go? The students were busy getting to know their new classmates and the new routines in our classroom. Here are some highlights.
Meeting our new iPads…
Building our reading stamina…
Learning to read a book all by ourselves…
And watching Mr. Silversides turn into Sid the Clown…
We’re looking forward to many more great weeks together.
The students are becoming more and more independent and proficient at choosing a tool and showing their learning with their iPads. As you can see by the picture below, they think it is important to get just the right angle when taking a picture of a non-digital artifact! Check out the learning on their blogs about digraphs that they were taking pictures of.
We have just finished up a unit on fairy tales in our classroom. As a final project, we watched a movie of a fairy tale. As they wached, the students used their iPads to tweet the fairy tale characteristics and the viewing elements that they noticed. You can see all of the children’s tweets in this Storify.
