All About Moose Jaw

Our class is part of the pilot project for a wonderful initiative called A Kid’s Guide to Canada. It’s about kids digitally telling the story of where they live for Canada’s 150th birthday next year. The students chose the important things in our community themselves, took many of the pictures, dictated the text and recorded their thoughts and opinions. It’s so interesting to see what six year olds think are the important parts of their lives.
This project will be open for all Canadian classes beginning in January.

Letters to Santa

fullsizerender-1

It’s the time of year that we need to let Santa know we are thinking of him. Together we decided that when we wrote to Santa we needed to thank him for last year’s gift, say something nice and then tell him what we were hoping to get this year. The students worked very hard on this; it’s an important document to get right. We mailed the letters to Santa, but first we took a picture of them so that you could see them on their blogs. Be sure to check to see their heart’s desires and their developing skills.

Pajama Day

What fun to get to wear your pj’s, housecoat and slippers to school! Add your blankie, a pillow and a stuffed animal and learning is sooo much more fun. We did feel a bit sleepy, though…

At the Art Museum

Check out the fabulous time we had at the Art Museum creating a super-secret something out of clay, playing in the discovery centre and viewing some of the works of art that are currently on display.

Mannequin Challenge

With Mannequin Challenge sweeping social media, some of my students decided to participate in #MannequinChallengeEDU. We practiced being mannequins in a lot of different ways and watched videos to see how others had done it.
I’m very proud of how well they did. Take the challenge! We want to see you do it, too!

Stools That Tilt

Some intriguing boxes from Trade West showed up in our classroom.

We opened them to discover four motion stools. The bottom of the stools is slightly convex so that the stool wobbles deliciously as you sit on it. Perfect for little bodies who need to move!

The lure of the boxes was too great to resist and the children had a lot of fun cooperating to make some intriguing creations. Thanks, Trade West for these wonderful stools!

Creepy Characters!

Just look at the strange children that showed up in my classroom on Halloween! We had a lot of fun learning about counting by 10’s as we counted the seeds in our pumpkins with ten frames.

Run, Run, Run

Getting lots of physical exercise is so important for young children. It helps them to focus and to do better in all the academic things we do at school. These photos are from a recent game of sit tag that we played in the gym.
