This Christmas we received gifts from two wonderful teachers. Mrs. Marrinan, who teaches in Brisbane, sent us a beautiful electronic advent calendar and Mrs. Knee from New Hampshire sent us an Elephant and Piggie book. These books are the hands-down favourites in our classroom. Some of the students helped to say “thank you” in this video.
Holidays
Christmas Concert
To make sure the students could concentrate on their dancing at the concert, we recorded them singing Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer ahead of time (thanks, Mr. Orescanin!) and played it as they did their line dance. They were fabulous!
Letters to Santa
All of the children have their letters to Santa already posted on their blogs, but I was so impressed with their letters that I wanted to share them all here.
Rudolph Headbands

Remembering
To honour our soldiers who have served in many wars and peace keeping missions for Canada, the school set up a Wall of Honour and display. These are some of the posters from our class that are part of the display.
Below are other views of the display, including photos of relatives of our students who have served.
Our Spooky Day
Two Skype Calls
We “chatted” via Skype with two different classes this week. The first was with Mrs. Elder’s grade one/two class in Coronach. We chatted to find out what strategies the other class had used to solve the problems we gave them and to tell them how we solved the one they gave us.
The second call was with Ms. Lirenman’s class in Surrey, B. C. Four of my students and four of hers acted out their Halloween costumes for the other class to guess. Then, each class got to ask two questions about things that they wondered about the other class.
Halloween Crafting
With the help of our craft expert Sandra and her glue gun savvy assistants, we made some Halloween crafts today. Just look at these hard-working and happy children.
Can You Guess…What We’ll Be For Halloween?
As part of the representing strand in our language arts curriculum, we represented what we would be for Halloween with our bodies for our friends to guess. Can YOU guess what we’ll be?
