Amy Krouse Rosenthal is one of our favourite authors. This week, we read a book of hers called Chopsticks.

Most of the students in the class had never tried chopsticks or eaten sushi, so we gave it a try. First we rubbed them together to get rid of any splinters…

..and then we gave using them a try. There were lots of different techniques.

Finally, success!!

Incidentally, almost everyone loved the sushi.
The students’ writing about the possibilities of chopsticks will begin appearing on their blogs later today.

The children are having a blast skating! I’ve been impressed by how hard they are trying and by how uncomplaining they are about sore feet and falling down. Just look at these smiles.

Christmas Fun

Over the last days before our Christmas break, we had a lot of fun doing special Christmas activities. We got to shop at the “Christmas Store” in the gym, choosing special gifts with the help of our big buddies…

…and then getting them wrapped by the helpers who donated their time.

Finally, they were all ready for us to take home.

We also hand-made our Christmas cards…

and made special wrapping for our clay gifts…

We decorated Christmas cookies…

and made a cooperative mural.

The highlight, though, was the Christmas concert.
