Did you know that Santa has secrets? Things that he never reveals to anyone?
Some six and seven year old students KNOW those secrets. This week, students from several primary classes tweeted about those secrets. Below are a few of those secrets from students in our classroom. You can see all of the secrets here.
Month: December 2012
Thank You!
This Christmas we received gifts from two wonderful teachers. Mrs. Marrinan, who teaches in Brisbane, sent us a beautiful electronic advent calendar and Mrs. Knee from New Hampshire sent us an Elephant and Piggie book. These books are the hands-down favourites in our classroom. Some of the students helped to say “thank you” in this video.
Christmas Concert
To make sure the students could concentrate on their dancing at the concert, we recorded them singing Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer ahead of time (thanks, Mr. Orescanin!) and played it as they did their line dance. They were fabulous!
Letters to Santa
All of the children have their letters to Santa already posted on their blogs, but I was so impressed with their letters that I wanted to share them all here.

What Would the Gingerbread Man Say?
We have been working on the writing trait of “voice”. Sometimes, voice means writing as if you are someone else. This week we made gingerbread men and have been pretending that we are those gingerbread men as we write. Today, we wrote what we thought our gingerbread men would say on Twitter using the hashtag #SaystheGBMan. A school from Dryden, Ontario and one from Vancouver, BC joined us. Below are a couple of the pictures and tweets written by students in our class. You can see many more of the tweets by searching for the hashtag on Twitter, or on this Storify.
Making Clay Trees
The students had a fantastic time working with clay at the Art Museum. After these creations dry and are fired, we’ll paint and glaze them.
Amphibians!
What do a Giant Japanese Salamander, a Smooth-Sided Toad and a Hellbenders Salamander have in common? They are all amphibians. We learned about them all today when we watched the Discovery Education live event from the National Zoo in Washington D?C. While we watched, the students took notes to help themselves remember what they were learning.
Pyjama Day
Pyjama Day– the day you can get out of bed and not get dressed before you go to school. It’s a big hit in our classroom!
