We Wonder…
After seeing some video footage about the way our food choices can give us the power to play and learn, the students began to write out the questions they had about healthy lifestyles.
Different Books For Different Kids
Every child has different interests in books he or she wants to read. Just look at the variety that were taken home in backpacks tonight!
Writing…Wherever We Choose
I encourage my students to write wherever feels most comfortable for each of them. As you can see from this picture, not all of them choose a table and chair!
Will Stroet Concert
What a treat to have a concert in our own gym!
Will Stroet and the Backyard Band had the children moving, dancing and singing to his bilingual songs.
Later we watched a music video on his website which the children insisted they wanted on our blog so that they could watch it whenever they wished at home.
Creating and Describing Patterns
Both the grade ones and the grade twos having been working on creating and describing patterns. Today they took pictures of the patterns they created and then circled the core of each pattern. Check out each student’s blog on the right to see the special patterns each one created.
Our Really Big Dot!
Thanks to some other classes in the school, we were able to help make a really BIG dot for Dot Day!
Dot Day
Dot Day is coming this Saturday. This week we got to hear the author, Peter Reynolds, read his book via Livestream. He also told us how he got the idea for his book. Can your child tell you how?
Making Our Mark
Today we followed the example of Vashti in Peter Reynolds’ book The Dot and made our marks. We made our dots on paper
and on our iPads.
Reading by Ourselves
As part of our reading program, we’ve been building our stamina in reading to ourselves. We know that to be good readers we have to spend a lot of time reading and we are reading to ourselves a few more minutes each day.
